The 56th Annual HNNS Men’s Soccer Tournament was hosted by Toronto Zagreb, in Norval Ontario on August 31st to September 1st. The two-day tournament featured 18 teams from Canada and the United States, saw thousands of spectators over the course of the weekend and had musical acts in the beer garden with a performance by Zapresic Boys from Zagreb.

In a group stage that saw many upsets and surprises CBP Jadran Chicago was able to come away with top points and continue to perform well all the way up until the final whistle of the championship game to capture their first title since 2016. Under the leadership and guidance of head coach Sinisa Alebic CPB was able to gain a 3-0 victory over Polet New York. This brings CPB Jadran Chicago’s total championships to 17.  In the Premier Division Kitchener Hrvat captured their second Premier Championship in a 1-0 win over Streetsville Dalmacija.

The festivities did not stop at the field but continued into the night at the awards banquet which opened with a performance by Klapa Samoana from New Zeland and saw the awarding of two lifetime achievement award winners Mile Pocrnic from Croatia London-St. Thomas and Franjo Vukovic from Hrvatski Orlovi Milwaukee. It was a weekend that brought various Croatians from all over Canada and the United States to celebrate their culture and love of the beautiful game.
